Spectacular win for Torben

Countdown to Nordic Fight Night

On Saturday evening Nordic Fight Night will open with a bang in Brøndby hallen, when Torben Keller faces Dzianis Makar in the first bout of the evening. In December Torben outclassed Aleksei Tsatiasvili in his professional debut and will now face a more experienced boxer, as Markar comes with eight professional bouts on the record. Three of these have been won, all by the way of knockout. Even though Torben only had one professional bout so far, he comes with plenty of experience from the amateur ranks facing world class opponents, so Markar will get his hands full trying to get a win.

The life of a professional boxer in Berlin

Its is now about 1 month since Torben had his succesfull pro-debut. After a short vacation he is now back in Berlin training towards his future fight. For the moment Torben lives in a small hostel, but he will soon move into his apartment located very close to the traning facilities and his boxing collegues. Life in Berlin has been great so far and with Torben both understanding and speaking German, the language change has caused no problems.

But how is the life as a professional boxer in Berlin? Torben has made a short summary of one of his typical days in Berlin.

Torben wins!

On a great Fight Night in Herning, Torben stepped into the ring for the first time as a professional boxer. The debut was set against Estonian Aleksei Tsatiasvili and early it became clear that both fighters were in this for the win. Tsatiasvili proved to be small, strong and an ever dangerous boxer, with some heavy hooks looking for a knockdown upset. Torben took control straight from the opening bell and with superior technical boxing and some heavy body shots he left no doubt with the judges and crowd, when the bout went to the scorecards after four rounds of action.

Keller debut only few hours away

The countdown has now started for tonights TV2 Fight Night in Herning. Torben will make his first apperance as professional in a bout against Estonian Aleksei Tsatiasvili in the light-middelweight division. Yesterdays weigh-in showed off a fully prepared Torben in a very fit condition. Together with his trainer, Torsten Schmitz, Torben has spent the last couple of weeks in Berlin, working on the transition from amateur boxing to the new style as professional.

Torben signs with Team Sauerland

Torben has signed a long-term contract as professional boxer with Team Sauerland. This means a new chapter for Torben in his career as boxer has begun. A decision like this also means the ultimate goodbye to Torbens dream of going to the Olympics 2012.

But how can a determined amateur boxer like Torben, suddenly quit on a dream he has been following for years? Torben will try to answer some of these questions here.

Why will you not follow your dream of the Olympics? You still had a qualification chance in April?
